Vampire’s Faith by Rebecca Zanetti
Dark Protectors #8

Ronan has been away from the world in a bubble keeping bad guy Kurjan creep in prison when the bubble breaks and he waked to a world that is a whole lot different than it was when he went into the bubble. He has a lot of catching up to do and does so in an impressive way. His strength is not at full force but he is still a male to be reckoned with. Shortly after he wakes he realizes his neurologist and coma specialist Faith is his mate…getting her to adjust and agree takes some time, though.

This book is a romance but also gives background of how The Seven achieved their powers, what they are meant to do and who is going to join them. It sets the situation up for future books and introduces us to all of the seven except for Ronan’s brother who is in a bubble of his own. We meet some of the bad guy Kurjan and Cyst types and here mention of the “others” that exist in addition to humans.

I believe that not having read any of the previous books in this series may have been a good thing as this stands alone and seems to be the introduction to a future group of beings that will be fighting and defeating (I hope) the evil that wants to gain the upper hand.

I wonder about Faith’s sister and whether or not she will eventually wake and end up with Adare. I wonder who Benny, Ivar and Quade will end up with and also wonder about Garret and Logan and how the team will work in the future. I have to say that Faith, in spite of her education and knowledge, seemed a bit of a loose cannon doing silly things that put herself and others in danger. I know she is supposed to come across as strong and unwilling to back down but…at times I did not get her.

Did I enjoy the book? Yes
Do I want to read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington – Lyrical Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.
