A Lady's Guide to Mischief and Murder by Dianne Freeman

adventurous hopeful

2.0

I recently reread the first books in the series and despite the disappointment of the second book decided to try another in the series.

I think my problem with these books is that they try to be so much - a mystery, a romance, a historical - just to name the top 3 genres. And in some way they try to fit the mold of these genres pretty closely. But the result is that the book does none of them well - it's a boring meandering mystery, an even more meandering and uninspiring romance, and a very inaccurate and rather pointless historical.

So instead of being more satisfying for having brought these various genres together, it ends up being significantly less so. It was all just very meh.
