What an atmospheric read! The author's unique style of writing gripped me from the very first page and submerged me in a different world that feels like the Regency era but with orcs, elves, and mages. This was my first historical fantasy romance, and I loved it!
The book is written from the MMC's point of view, which I found refreshing. His character was believable and relatable. I might have developed a crush on this charming orc xD
I didn't fully warm up to his ladylove, because I couldn't entirely get why she behaved the way she did, but perhaps the next book in the series will shed more light on her character.
The several intimate scenes were hot and full of emotion, I enjoyed that a lot.
I also enjoyed the mystery element in the story, it made the plot even more gripping. The several action scenes were superbly written and added to the tension, which makes this a must-read-in-one-sitting book.
I can't wait to dive back into this world of fantasy creatures and court intrigue!
