I found this book a bit disappointing - it’s definitely a sort of Circe lite. I thought that the way it was written had much less poetry and beauty than I had expected from the review mentioning it’s lyrical writing. However I enjoyed it and would tell people it’s worth a read if they’re interested, but won’t be one I return to I think - I found it’s reflections on womanhood etc did not resonate with me. I wish that Phaedra’s death and the consequences thereof had been written with more impact, I found it very rushed.
