Fever Dream
by Samanta Schweblin
dark
mysterious
tense
fast-paced
This was gripping - managed to read it in less than 4 hours because I couldn’t put it down.
The story follows a meandering dreamlike conversation between a dying mother and a little boy named David as they walk through miserable event during her vacation. There are no chapters which makes for a fast paced and unbroken read. Without any real gore or explanation it’s a dreadful experience that I can only guess will be very different upon second read. The story is jarring and really lives up to the title.
I enjoyed the authors style and hope to read more by them in the near future!
