I had so much hype going into this one because The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite stories. I ended up liking this one pretty well, but the pacing definitely felt off in some parts. It didn't have the story flow I've come to expect from McIntire. Some parts felt super fast-paced, and then others seemed to drag on which did diminish the reading experience a bit. It also mentions the solar pelxus one too many times, which is a massive bookish pet peeve of mine.

I did appreciate that the characters cared for one another, but their miscommunication was SO BAD. One conversation and this book would be 300 pages shorter. The fact that I liked them so much was a strong redeeming factor.
