Okay, I have read EVERY Lisa See book and am a HUGE fan of her writing and story-telling.
This novel was INTENSE, POWERFUL, and MOVING. I had NO idea about the horrible atrocities committed on the Korean island of Jeju or about the haenyeo (women divers). This is not an easy read and the plot line does not allow it to be so.
As always, there is amazing character development, well-researched storylines, and amazingly beautiful writing. The story took me away and made me really think about my blessings being born when I was in the U.S.
The book was another wonderful one by Lisa See. It is is the STRONGEST recommend possible.
