No Promises in the Wind by Irene Hunt

5.0

An underrated read about a boy having to grow up - quickly - during the Great Depression; I read this in 7th grade and loved it. Perhaps it was simply the time period, but I enjoyed it more than Hunt's more famed novel "Aprils" (for design failures, even for then, check out the first edition cover). (8.5)
