The Autumnlands, Volume 1: Tooth and Claw
by Kurt Busiek
Kind of fun. There is something fascinating about people with animal heads and features. It must be deep in our psyche somewhere. I was reading about the Löwenmensch figurine and it seems like this has fascinated us for almost as long as we have been human.
The art is good, but a little contorted in a few panels. The story was good as well, but some of the characters lack depth, particularly the human champion who shows up swinging his sword and working hard to save an ungrateful menagerie of beast headed people without much apparent incentive to risk his own life doing so.
I'll probably read vol 2. This was a comixology find during my free trial. I'm underwhelmed by the service and haven't found anything yet that would induce me to keep the subscription.
