The Chief by Monica McCarty

5.0

I just loved this book. Mainly because of the historical context in which the narrative takes place. Of course, the focus of the story is the novel, but all the background of revolt against the English throne is very present.

The protagonist was a young woman, very innocent, romantic and intelligent. Normally I don't like such innocent protagonists, but I understand that, given the whole way she was raised and the way women were treated at the time, innocence was something to be expected of a 20-something girl. Besides being very cute, she is also very smart and hardworking. I found her development during the book gratifying.

The protagonist, even though he is very headstrong when talking about his wife and his feelings for her, it makes you understand why he is that way, making him not want to have a connection with anyone.

The couple had a lot of chemistry and I liked the story development. I want to meet more of the other warriors led by Tor.
