Christmas in Quincy by Devney Perry
3.0

3⭐️ Underwhelming Christmas Read.

This is one of the books I’d kept on my Holidays TBR because I really wanted to read it to get into the spirit of things. And although it definitely did that, I’ve just come to the conclusion that Knox Eden was the unicorn of this series, because this MMC was an a**hole. Not as big a one as Foster was in Garnet Flats, because I would’ve DNFed, but there was enough for me to not be able to fully enjoy this.

Austin is Cleo’s family’s security head and when she decides to plan herself a little vacation for the holidays and spend Christmas by herself on Quincy’s beautiful, peaceful Eloise Inn, her father throws the tantrum of the century – very on brand with how rich he is – and sends Austin to retrieve her.

And although the premise of the book is not my favourite, I really had high hopes for this one. Instead, we get an MMC who’s barely able to look at the FMC because he’s so attracted to her he can’t fu*king cope, and continuously makes it her problem. He’s been treating her like he hates her for over four years by the time the book begins. He puts her down, her clothes, her baking, which is her passion and her livelihood… All because he didn’t want anyone to suspect just how into her he was. Excuse me, what? I’m so done with men treating women like sh*t because they "just like her so much”. Just massive red flags all around this guy, honestly.
Spoiler Then, he grovels semi-decently, she forgives him immediately, which is way too fast for having spent FOUR YEARS with that behaviour and he turns into a sweet, cuddly bear????
Just no. Maybe it's my hate for the third instalment on this series, from which I still haven't gotten over, but I think I'm throwing the towel on this series.

Read for the Christmas vibes, but the romance’s disappointing tbh.
