I ENJOYED THIS SO MUCH
I thought I wouldn't like the ending when the"the bi/pan woman leaves the lesbian for a man and also was lying to her the whole time" trope happened, but actually I think it is dealt with very well, and in the end I did not feel too bitter about this part anymore, although I am not happy about it either.
I love the words mirror biased, parallel biased and polarity biased, but I would have enjoyed some deeper exploration of the gender and sexuality system in this world.
(Hidden: Details of the way gender is handled, which I would not consider spoilers, but am hiding just in case.)We know that there is the myth that gender inequality is a thing of the past, while in reality, there are still very rigid rules, biases and areas that are dominated by one gender in a way that is not comfortable for people of different genders. We know that while there is a third gender category, androgyne, gender is still assigned by simply looking at someone's appearance. (I think that this hints at a high level of cisnormativity that is partially hidden by the existence of complex body mods, perhaps also a "being trans is only about the body, therefore trans people don't exist anymore" narrative.) We can infer from the narration that as a mirror biased woman, it is not not considered unusual to be ttracted to an androgyne. And I would like to know more about all this, about how it works and what it means, and how it affects different people.
Oh and the worldbuilding, idek, the whole bizarre-ish moon thing is DELIGHTFUL and I love it
