Dream of Me
by Quinn Loftis
DNFd pretty early on into the book.
I didn’t like how ridiculously perfect our heroine was, and how obsessive our hero was, it felt like it was going the way of being a more sexual fantasy book and that’s just not my thing. Maybe I’m wrong but it didn’t feel enjoyable.
Apparently it’s a Christian book which I can very much see so maybe this is why I thought it was going down a mills and boom route. It did have uncomfortable undertones of righteousness that seems to come with Christian fiction. As a Christian myself it makes me concerned that people feel you should only volunteer etc because you feel you have to pretend to want to.
Anyway, the insta stalker love of a kind of angel for a teenager alarmed me. The main character reads more like a thirty year old woman living alone with her cat so I’m surprised she’s actually 18.
Anyway, I would avoid this personally if you’re not into religious fiction. It’s a cool idea but it didn’t hit any type of mark for me. Or maybe it did, it made me tired?
