Proceed with caution, I tried not to include any spoilers, but I also don't want to ruin anyone's day if I accidentally did.

You guys, this one had me silently crying there in the end. So everyone knows what that means! 5 Stars baby! SARA WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK. YOU LEFT US THERE? Do you not like us? These are the hardest hitting questions I can offer here. Not only is Tem's backstory just the most upsetting, but then you had to go and do her dirty with that ending. I'm not trying to give anything away since the book hasn't been officially released, but I'm not regretting one bit of buying into the patreon to get an advanced copy (both audible and ebook - because you bet your butt I did an immersive read). I think I like Tem more than I liked Kora. I think Kora seems a bit whiney compared to Artemis. Oooh your parents died? That stinks, Tem's parents SOLD her. Ohhh you went to prison island for rich kids? Well, that's cute. I don't even think we've gotten down to the brass tacks of all that really went down with Artemis. Good thing we get 3 more books - and they seem to be coming out quickly. (Thanks the great and powerful S. Massery)

Alright, what did I like about this book... Probably the boys. All the boys. They were/are definitely flawed. I imagine Artemis' life is a bit like Jess's from New Girl, with less hijinks and more male brooding. So really, not at all like Jess's life. We've got 3 different possible love interests. Sara seems to like her RH stories. That plot point hasn't been strictly established yet, but it seems to be heading in that direction -- especially with some of the thoughts being had by certain male character(s). However, I think we're gonna have to go through some TRAUMA to get there. Well, even more trauma, because they're all already traumatized -- minus Kade. He seems pretty well adjusted under the circumstances.

Anyway, this book really hits the same vibes as Sterling Falls did, but now we have another lady at the lead. It seems like we may be heading back to war and this time Artemis is dead center in the fight. Best wishes and kindest regards to that poor, unfortunate, soul - she's truly going to need it with all the action coming her way, both good and bad. We get mild spice, comparatively, to other Massery books in this one. I think there were two actual spicy scenes. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the HECK out of them, but there were only two. As for storylines, I really like where this is heading. I stayed engaged and finished this in one afternoon. It's a good thing I went out to my local bookseller and bought the Sterling Falls series to satiate my appetite until the next release.

Spice: 🌶️🫑
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.97 (because I wasn't full on bawling, more of a silent cry while I wipe my tears and yell at my husband "don't look at me Ian, I'm fine!". I'm irrational at times.)

I did read an ARC copy, but I was not sponsored by anyone to do so. I actually joined her patreon to read the book early, so this is fully on my honor
