The Family Roe: An American Story
by Joshua Prager
challenging
emotional
informative
reflective
sad
medium-paced
I was skeptical when I saw how massive this book was but I ended up being really impressed by its depth and breadth. I learned a lot about the history of abortion politics -- be forewarned, there are not many heroes here. (You may find yourself deeply disappointed in Sarah Weddington, for example.) Prager is telling a complicated and nuanced story, Dickensian in its scope, and I found it as riveting as many novels.
