Tru Blue by Melissa Foster

Truman Gritt is a man who has the right to be mad at the world – makes me think of the John Wayne movie True Grit (intentional?). He’s had a very tough life and is trying to change his future. Gemma Wright is at the right place at the right time. It’s a tough beginning to read – I could feel a few tears in the corner of my eyes. But it’s a situation that makes me wonder how many people would actually step up and help someone without being asked. The ABC show “What Would You Do?” comes to mind.
It’s a story that makes you think. It shows that when there’s a person in need that there are “angels” out there that are willing to look beyond the outside and just help for the sake of helping another human being. It didn’t take me long to realize that this was not a book that I could easily put down. If I did, it would just end up back in my hands.
One thing that comes out in this story is the instant connection that Truman and Gemma have. It’s really hot at times – flammable. But it’s also very sweet and one that will touch your heart. She may have been wary in the beginning but trusting her instincts she learns to trust him. I think we sometimes forget to trust our instincts – we’ve learned to be cautious about so many things nowadays. The author shows that there is a glimmer of hope for those that feel that they can’t get past what life has thrown at them. We just have to realize that we can’t do it all by ourselves but once the right one comes along everything will eventually fall into place. Ms. Foster starts me off with tears in my eyes and then I found myself the same way at the end. Be prepared for a very emotional ride.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
