She’s come undone, and knowing I’m the one who’s gotten her here makes me feel like a fucking god. Her god.

I love the enemies-to-lovers trope! This one was a lot of fun, with only one of the pair thinking they were enemies. The other one thought they were soulmates. I also love a good age gap romance, and this one fit the bill.

Emotionally damaged men just get me going. There is just something about them falling first that gets me all in my feels. I love the anticipation, when you KNOW it's coming, and you're just waiting for his eventual fall. Bastion's journey from wanting to get revenge on his birth mom to falling for the vehicle of his revenge kept me right in the story. I was so ready for when Hattie discovered his duplicity. God, I love that pain!

This is a spicy read. Hattie is closeted - super religious and full of all the guilt that comes with it - but she opens up quickly to all the pleasures Bastion offers. And his dirty mouth... I almost combusted along with Hattie. "Such a pretty pussy..." 🥵

A complete standalone, Hattie and Bastion get their HEA. While we met Bastion in The Ritual Room series, you need not have read those books to enjoy this one.
