Wild Tongues Can't Be Tamed: 15 Voices from the Latinx Diaspora
by Saraciea J. Fennell
Popsugar 2022 reading challenge #6
An absolutely wonderful group of essays by both established and up-in-coming authors. These essays deal with identity -- short, simple, to the point. Exploring different topics surrounding race and culture, the authors explore what it means to be Latinx, Black, or fill in the blank. Insights like these are great examples of how race, culture, identity, politics, etc., play into finding oneself in this world.
I burned through these essays (on audiobook, which is well worth it!) in one sitting. That being said, I'm not sure that it wouldn't have been better to read one essay each day. The content is something you truly should sit and think about. And some of the identity issues are repeated (because they exist in the lives of multiple people) which may not work for some readers. I loved it so much I just couldn't stop listening and went all the way through! Adored it.
I instantly added all of these authors to my "watch" list! (If they were not already there)
