The Something about Her by Rachel Higginson

3.0

This series has been a mix of big hits (Books 1 & 3) and meh reads (Books 2 & 4). Although all the books have dealt with real issues, this book was way heavier than the previous ones in the series. Content warnings abound.

The Something about Her is Dillon's story. Vann is her love interest but this is 100% her story of taking over as executive chef and overcoming past trauma. I don't feel like I know much about him or am at all invested in their relationship. There were also a few cringey scenes that I would have liked more discussion about. I did love the continued kitchen settings, the found family, and the very engaging writing.

Ultimately, I felt like I was partly reading this book for past character cameos, which were abundant and wonderful. As a whole, I've really enjoyed this series. I wouldn't hesitate to read more from this author.
