A Change of Fortune
by Jen Turano
Admittedly, I am a little biased. Christian historical romance is not a genre I usually enjoy, so take everything with a grain of salt.
I felt like this novel was underdeveloped. The premise of a British aristocrat undercover in New York to find the man responsible for stealing her family's fortune was extremely promising, but the book failed to do enough with the good bones. The characters were underdeveloped, the romance unconvincing, and the religious overtones anachronistic. If your characters are going to talk about God, it should be appropriate to the time period, not the author's chance to self-insert a testimony.
