The afterword of this book indicates it was originally a stand alone, that developed into a series, but I think I am going to keep it to the original intention.
I liked it well enough, don't get me wrong, I gave it 4 stars and I stand with that. 360 degrees being confused with 180 notwithstanding, but the 1st person POV and lack of dual point of view is not my preferred space and I feel like there's a bit of an unevenness on the tone specially from Danny, which makes the end of the book a bit unsatisfying. It's like Rain sort of kinda quits his job, and then comes back and Danny's reaction is *shrug* let's keep boinging then.
Also, the time line does not entirely work for me either, I love the idea of a medium involved in cold cases, yes please. But I either missed it, or it is not clear why this case is being reopened after 5 years, with 5 (!) agents assigned to it. What is the new info? And if Rain is so against going home, why chose this case from the pile offered?
Anyhoo, I did enjoy it, I'm just quitting while the going is good.
