Much ADO about Nothing
by William Shakespeare
One of the most enjoyable Shakespeare plays I have ever read, however I find it strange it is described as a comedy in errors, there are funny parts to this but for me it is more a drama with it showing the consequences of gossip, eavesdropping and manipulation. Just beaucare it does not have a tragic ending does not equate to comedy for me. The plot is not overly complex but I think that allows for interesting dialogue and is a device to show the manipulation of the characters and there actions following this. It also shows the strength of character of the main females, strong, dignified, witty but still open to love contrasted against the men, easily swayed and weaker characters. This is interesting especially for the time period.
