Oof, this is a dark read but I couldn't put it down. I was a little wary of getting into it based on all the reviews and content warnings (which were accurate - I largely skipped ch 21). But based on how much I loved Babel I trusted Kuang to deliver an excellent, thought-provoking story and not just a gratuitously violent gore fest. And do far she does deliver in that regard. I'll definitely finish the series but will read a more lighthearted palate cleanser between books. Really hoping for a satisfying ending to the series to make up for all the violence and gore.
