A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey

5.0

A love letter to Latinx culture, A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow combined some of my favorite things: mouth-watering food, well developed friends-to-lovers, travel, and family bonds. From Pilar knowing that Lila was not going to pack correctly to Orion being fiercely protective of Flora, this book had some incredible family dynamics that were front and center and added to, instead of took away from the love story. While a rom-com at times, this book flawlessly tackled what it means to be so connected to your culture through your ancestors, it reminded me of being in my abuela's kitchen while she watched me after school or going to her house for Sunday brunch. This book wrapped me in a hug and felt like fresh cafe con leche warming my soul. Of course it wasn't perfect, but it was pretty dang close.

Possible Spoiler******

The cheesy (but not badly done) hallmark ending that definitely made my heart smile.
