I saw this audiobook on Libby right before a 6-hour road trip back home and was immediately intrigued so I had to listen to it. I read a lot of romance (I know this isn’t a romance) and this turned out to be a really good balance for me. Homebodies looks at the complexities of our lives like careers, relationships, identities and emotions and how they all can become undone or pulled back together with the slightest chance.
I was talking about this book to a girl at a bar who said, “isn’t that where she had a girl who loved her down but just wanted to sleep with her ex?” And that made me laugh because kind of but there’s a bit more to it. One of the reasons that I liked this book so much was that it showed you even if you’re not unhappy doesn’t mean everything is working in your relationship.
Personally, I don’t like an ambiguous or open-ended book ending which is the main reason I didn’t give this book a higher rating. Would recommend though!
