Losers: Part I by Harley Laroux

5.0

Reject the boxes you’re offered and people will keep trying to shove you into them. They’ll put their labels on you and demand you adhere to them, and then if you don’t, it becomes your own damn fault that life is difficult.

This quote from the book in my opinion is the best way to describe it. The way these characters evolved throughout the story and the more you learned about their past they all suffered in so many ways and that could have led them down the wrong paths in life but they found solace in each other. Is this a smut book? Absa-fu**ing-lutely. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t such a beautiful story underneath. They way Harley wrote these characters is truly inspiring. I found myself in each one of them. I’ve seen comments that say Jess is weak but their wrong. She isn’t weak she’s struggling and theirs a difference she’s trying to find a way to figure out what she wants and who she cares to be but the heaviness of societal norms and what her mother wants is saying so heavily on her shoulders. To me that shows me she has great strength to even acknowledge or begin to acknowledge what SHE wants even though she knows “she isn’t supposed too” I’m excited to read book 2 and see where this found family goes.
