I'm usually a huge fan of Gaiman's work, I've paid to hear him speak, and I generally just enjoy the man's writing style.

But this didn't work for me at all.

I picked it up a year ago, and dropped it. I picked it up again a month ago, and dropped it. Finally in the past few days, I forced myself to slog through it (reading other books in the meantime) because I was determined not to DNF a Gaiman book.

I liked the writing style, especially the way he talked about memory and food. But the rest of it was just so... pointless. The characters felt so flat, the fantasy aspect of the book just felt random, and I didn't care about any of the characters.

Just... a real disappointing miss all around.
