Red flag city:
1) title taken from historical newspaper article relevant to the story but implies author will be mansplaining what girls are good for and he does
2) obvious within first two pages he does not know how to write women well
3) obvious within first five pages he will not be engaging with the complexity behind Nellie Bly as a feminist icon because he chooses to make her a feminist icon by today's standards of "don't need no man" whilst she was actually very "women do need a man" and "women should not work outside the home except for these three very specific conditions that I myself have experienced"
4) he's mixing fiction and nonfiction dangerously which means irresponsibly. pick one or the other and stick to it
5) his legal disclaimer says any resemblance to persons, places, or events is purely "coincidental" but is very intentionally writing a dramatized version of a real person's life
6) weird vibes all around
