The Silver Linings Playbook
by Matthew Quick
I wasn't a fan of the movie - there I've said it. I couldn't connect to either one of the characters and I didn't feel any joy at watching their story unfold. But I did see the potential in this, so I figured I might as well go ahead and read the book. At least in the movie, there were some moments I could laugh, but in the book, nothing really works. I felt more connected to Pat, mainly because there are many inner monologues that help understand his psychosis better. But really all the other characters just fell flat. There was no depth to them and they didn't seem in any way like people you'd want to have in your life...So I guess I don't get the buzz around the movie or the book. I just didn't like them.
