emotional mysterious tense fast-paced

Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This was a fun read overall: multi-POV, occasional time jumps, and a plot twist to round it out. However, the first quarter of the book felt spoon-fed and unnatural. For example, the writing felt more like a voiceover than a character’s inner monologue. Besides that, the story was enjoyable and has encouraged me to visit NYC over July 4th weekend.
