Being the book that influenced and started a new literary genre, The Castle of Otranto is a wonderful book that encapsulates the gothic scenery and supernatural elements.
This was one of many classics I’ve heard about and glad to say I read. It was fast paced and quick (though school did get in the way); the characters were intriguing to learn from and their motivations. I’m the type of reader who predicts the ending; I didn’t have any predictions to make because I didn’t know how the story would unfold.
I like the little spurts of supernatural elements and the prophecy. It makes gothic literature such an interesting genre to read when you have the unusual incorporated.
