Dragons and Tea book club pick for March.
Just what you need to read during a pandemic... A book where a virus wipes out 2/3 of the population in the future.
This is something that I wouldn't have picked up for myself, not just the world we're currently living in, but wasn't expecting the level of time travel element which is pretty much a pass for me usually.
But holy cannoli moly am I glad that I did (first most another adoration for a book husband).
This made me think about how much we might just blindly follow someone because they are/are perceived as an authority figure, instead of us taking the responsibility for our own life.
How much do we as a person change over time? Are you the same you that you were five years ago, or ten years from now? I often will stop and just admire the person I used to be, because fuck she was awesome. She was one of the strongest people I knew. There's been lot of ways I've grown, learned, and coped with -in probably not the best of ways. But I truly don't feel that I could go through some of the experiences again now with as much grace or confidence that it'll work out as my younger self did. It's kind of scary to think that maybe pieces of you won't always be the same, yet still encouraging that you're not always locked into the you that you are, or think you are. Future can always change if we're taking the actions now. *existential moments over*
This wrecked me in a lot of good ways and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Also thank you to the wonderful friend that braved the virus outdoors on a library trip, back in the day when they were open, to hunt down a copy.
