Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
4.0
A high 3.5
Before I start, I read this book before reading the Infernal Devices series and I do think there are some parts of this book that would have made more sense had I read that series first. But it wasn’t make or break.
I really enjoyed this book, the world building was beautiful and I loved the 1900s societal influence on the characters. Anna is my absolute favourite character in this book. Described as a bohemian on the fringe of society, she’s the most unique character here. Cordelia is also pretty great and badass.
I hate Grace. I hate her with every fibre of my being. She is manipulative, controlling, and extremely annoying. But it’s one of those love-to-hate instances, she actually brought so much to the story that it would be hollow without her, but I still hate her
