In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado

challenging emotional sad

5.0

gorgeously written and stunningly innovative, In the Dream House sheds light on a long-overlooked struggle in the queer (more specifically, lesbian) community: abuse. this was not only relatable but also extremely informative. the aspects of lesbian history she draws on are eye opening, and the way she weaves in different pieces of popular media to parallel the story she’s telling is genius. one of my favorite memoirs i’ve ever read.
