The Best Halloween Ever by Barbara Robinson

3.0

I'm ashamed to admit that I've yet to read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever so this is my first exposure to the Herdmans. With having nothing to compare it to, I have to say that I really did enjoy this book.

The Best Halloween Ever is the story about a town that decides to cancel Halloween in hopes to not be terrorized once again by the dreaded Herdmans. Halloween instead will be an awful sanitized candy-free and safe celebration at the school, leaving all to wonder, will the Herdmans show up this Halloween?

Overall I thought The Best Halloween Ever was a lot of fun and enjoyable for both kids and adults. Full of fun twists and suspense, it is a quick read recommended for Grades 3-5. It has definitely inspired me to read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and more of Barbara Robinson's books.
