The Reformatory
by Tananarive Due
I'm feeling so much after finishing this. Mostly relief because Robbie was able to get out but also sadness because so many boys lost their lives in the reformatory. If not their lives their innocence.
Haddock didn't suffer enough for me! What a vile mother*cker! How dare he abuse those babies the way he did! And Boone sitting up there shucking and jiving. Ugh, I hope Boone got his in the end. There was no reason for them doing Redbone the way they did!
I could feel Gloria's helplessness throughout the book and I felt so bad for her and Miss Lottie. Miss Lottie was a sweetheart! I couldn't help being mad at Mr. Stephens. You just leaving your kids alone in racist ass Gracetown with an elderly woman looking after them.
I'm glad Blue was able to help Robbie. I picked up on him being a haint early on but was still shook when it was revealed. I'm glad Blue was able to get revenge on Haddock for all the horrible stuff he did. I just wish he had suffered a longer time lol.
This was my first Tananarive Due book and it definitely won't be the last. This one kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
