Cut & Thirst: A Short Story
by Margaret Atwood
Cut and Thirst is a fun short story about a bunch of retired friends who plot to murder the ringleader of a vicious cabal of poets who hurt their friend's career. As they lunch, they plot ways to kill the antagonist while making it look like an accident. It had vibes of the Golden Girls mixed with the wonderful TV show Bad Sisters.
The banter between the three main characters is super, and the plots they come up with are fun, but it feels a little on the short side (even for a short story) and kind of fizzles at the end. Still, it is well worth a read if you have a free evening.
