Fresh Start by Gale Galligan

There are so many good graphic novels about the transition to middle school these days and this is one of them! As a mixed kid myself, I found some things to be particularly relatable. I thought the family dynamic was portrayed so well while also being respectful to each family member. I also thought the conflict in Ollie’s friend group was really well done. It felt real and not dramatized. Overall, I love the theme of finding your people—the ones you can be yourself around.
