Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

This book has stuck with me for years. I read it in late middle school/early high school and it lingers, conceptually... So for that reason alone, I think it's worth reading.

2024 reread—this is a pretty solid book for what it is: a mid-2000s dystopian novel for teens. i think the world building remains really interesting, even if/as its commentary is deeply unsubtle, though fairly coherent.
