Second books in series can never catch a break. This one definitely reminded me of New Moon in that we have a "breakup", flirting with danger and other boys (who just happen to be a different species) to make the ex jealous, and the frankly horrifying amount of miscommunication or lack thereof.

I mean seriously, if everyone sat down and talked with each other in clear and succinct language, I feel like ninety percent of Nora's problems wouldn't exist. I get that she's only sixteen and not emotionally mature yet, but holy cow, the things she does to "get back" at Patch over something she thought was true but wasn't border on the criminal. She stole a car, vandalized the library (arguably not her fault, but still), and broke into a house! And she's was worried about Patch having a rap sheet in the first book?

Anyway, I think this book was definitely trying for the gritty, post-breakup angst and drama, but instead fell pretty flat. Nora made a bunch of questionable decisions, none of them beneficial to anyone, and all of them ending in more trouble than they were worth. (Bella, anyone?)
