The Immortality Key: The Secret History of the Religion with No Name
by Brian C. Muraresku
An entertaining and enlightening nonfiction book that is both the engaging saga of one contemporary man's long-term research obsession and a very coherent presentation of some provocative, complex, ground-breaking, and deeply important research. Without going into detail (the author does it much better than I could ever hope to), this book combines the study of primary source documents, contemporary accounts, archaeology, archaeo-chemistry, and various other disciplines to explore the ancient Mysteries and the use of psychedelic (or entheogenic) drugs as a key foundation in the evolution of human religious and spiritual belief. It picks up where The Road to Eleusis (another essential book) leaves off. For me at least, this was definitely another paradigm-shifter. Highly recommended!
