Vietnam was before my time. Whenever we go to Homes For Our Troops events, they ask veterans of different wars to stand and they apologize to the Vietnam vets for how the country treated them when they returned. I didn't have much understanding of that until now. Heartbreaking.
I expected SOMEONE to come back after they talked about how some who were shot down were POWs, not dead. I didnt expect to see Jamie again. That was a surprise. For a while, I thought the book was going to end with Frankie dying. Rye was a jerk. Frankie never did ask him about his divorce when he proposed. I'm glad Jamie came back and that the writer made their relationship possible.
