The Wind Weaver by Julie Johnson

4.0

The Wind Weaver sucked me in from the start! This book starts off really strong as the FMC is in danger after being captured by the kings’ men. They don’t like halflings and will kill them immediately. But right before she’s set to burn, she’s rescued. But not by someone who means to save her. He rescues her from THAT certain death only to thrust her into other enemy territories. And thus begins an epic adventure!

Readers should know that this is a SLOW BURN. I think it will set up the rest of the series nicely sort of like ACOTAR did. The entire idea surrounding the novel is original and I’m excited to see it grow more as the series progresses. One of my main complaints though is that the book is a bit long and dragged without adding much to the plot. I feel like some things could be cut out and more focus could be on the magic system and characters relationships. I also missed the addition of secondary characters which don’t show up until a few hundred pages.

Regardless of my few small issues I think this is a solid debut and I’m excited to see where the author takes us next in the series.
