Beautifully written, with a world and a story that grabs you by both shoulders, yet doesn’t quite satisfy. I wonder only if this is intentional, if our lack of closure in reading is meant to help us better understand the life the characters have been resigned to. I would not be surprised if this were the case given how beautiful and deliberate the prose is, I find it hard to believe anything could be accidental. truly this book is a five star work of art, but as a story i had hoped would feel complete after I put it down for the last time it came up just a little bit short. This is absolutely worth a reading though, if only to remind you of just how vivid a scene a talented writer is capable of crafting.
