I admit, I was avoiding this one because of the hype. I figured there was no way it could be as great as everyone said. I was partially wrong. I absolutely loved many things about the book. Listening to the audiobook version really helped bring some of the characters to life. Violet was a strong, warrior even if she was discounted by many of the people her life that were supposed to prop her up. I loved Tarin and Andarna. Their voices and dialogue actually made me laugh out loud. I especially loved Tarin's sarcasm. I loved the steamy relationship building between Violet and Xaden. However, what I didn't love was the parts where the attraction was the only story. The beginning and ending with the action was fantastic. I'm interested to see where the next one goes after the revelations at the end of this one.
