Sepulchre by Kate Mosse

I mainly read this book on the way to and from school/work and, in my opinion, the first half was excruciatingly slow (it took me several months to plod through). I understood that it was necessary to set up the background for the mystery, but it felt like nothing significant was happening for great portions of the novel. It's only sometime after the halfway point that the story begins to take off, events start to unravel, and answers are finally illuminated.
