A fun story that riffs on Scooby-Doo, Enid Blyton, and Lovecraft, but is let down by writing that is trying way too hard to be clever. I read this book aaages ago, and picked it up again hoping it might be better, but alas. It's still enjoyable, just a waste of potential (a bit like Lovecraft Country).
