Unbreakable by Rebecca Shea
3.0
Sorry if there are any spoilers. I don't often write reviews, however, I'm feeling compelled to after reading Unbreakable. I've learned not to expect TOO too much from YA novels. This book is a prime example of why. I rate this book a 2.5, although I gave it a 3 to be generous. There was so much room for the story to be SO much better than it was. It could have gone much deeper and dealing with the very real issues that it was, it just seemed too unrealistic. Jess was too flighty and Gabe was a bit psycho stalkerish. Landon was pig headed and I don't like how the story skipped right over how he turned from being a total arrogant jerk into being in love with Jess. Also, what the heck happened to Landon and his sister? There are several references to the messed up stuff that happened to them, but the book never actually says what or explains why Landon is the way he is. The story left loose ends and didn't flow. It jumps from one thing to another in the same paragraph. Besides all this, the main thing that drove me nuts was the terrible grammar and punctuation. Commas in the middle of sentences, occasionally not even using quotations when people were speaking, and my number one pet peeve: I can't even tell you how many times the word "too" was used where it should have been "to". Seriously??? How did this book even get published like this?? I could give it the benefit of the doubt and hope that since I read this on my kindle, whoever created the kindle version just didn't proof read or something. But jeeze. Kinda made me wish I didn't take a chance and waste my $2.99 on this book. Blah.
