A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki

3.0

I'm not 100% sure how I feel yet but I guess it's a 3 for now. Only time will tell how much impact "A Tale for the Time Being" leaves in me. I struggled with a few parts in the middle and then the last 150 pages flew by. What Nao goes through at school is gutting and left me feeling nauseous. I felt like Ruth & Oliver never reacted to her writing the way I was expecting or the way I would've reacted. Loved the Jiko and H#1's storylines. Nao's chapters were really well developed and subtle, especially while tackling such nasty subjects. Ruth's chapters could've been way faster paced since they almost always broke the rhythm of Nao's storyline. Sometimes it felt like Ruth wasn't even reading the diary. Oh well... it's an amazing premise and throughout good.
