“I was finally part of something rather than standing alone in the sidelines. Like I was connected to the world. And, man…I want to feel that way again. That means no longer running from who I really am.” —Clark Kent, issue #2

waid has such a good grasp of modern clark’s voice, especially as a young man coming to grips with his origin, his legacy, and the responsibility he has to the world. SUPERMAN: BIRTHRIGHT is such a solid 12-issue series that really digs deep into clark’s psyche: the isolation of not only being othered by just being an alien, but the loneliness of having to hide clark from the world, to tame him down enough to not be noticed. waid does a really good job with settling the superman’s cast of characters in the world, from ma and pa kent in smallville to lois and luthor in metropolis. obsessed with this fr. i miss him already!
